Pushing Her Luck is a great story of two people finding love and themselves in a place/situation they never thought they would.
Samantha Meyer is an heiress who had just lost her grandmother – the only family she has ever known. now, she has to decide what to do with her life, if going to work in her late grandmother’s organization in New Jersey or something else. Deep in her heart, Sam knows she doesn’t want to be the chairman of this great company, she wants to more for her life, not a work who consumes every free time of her life, something meaningful 9like what her Gram did), but also something that would allow her to have a life of her own.
In this quest to find herself and also her family roots, she goes to Ireland to search for a necklace that was very dear to her grandmother that was left buried in her old home there. And that leads her to the doorsteps of Riordan Faraday, our grumpy, surly hero. =)
Riordan is a painter/art teacher, who has been taking care of his mother and brother since his alcoholic father deserted their family. And he is tired of it. He feels like he has no time for himself and can’t see a way to move on with his life, because in his head, his mom needs constant care and the only way for him to be loved by his relatives is if he does something for them. He doesn’t believe in freely given love or affection. Yes, the poor thing has huge childhood traumas.
When Sam enters his life, he can’t believe how someone can give so much love and affection to people she barely know and not expect nothing in return. She brightens his life so much that he become attracted to that light, to her. Sam in the other hand, is attracted to Riordan too. She sees right away that he needs someone to take care of him, to love him for who he is, and also she realizes that he can also be this rock she needs so much in her life.
They’re attracted to each other from the start, their banter and interactions are humorous and entertaining, their romance is very sexy and heartfelt. I liked how the secondary characters played a good part in helping Sam and Riordan to find their HEA, but in no way overshadow the romance in the story.
If you’re looking for a lighthearted romance you have here a great option and I’m definitely reading the next books in this series.
